07:05 AM ET 06.07 | That Coach of the Year curse struck again, and quickly this time in the case of George Karl. It's no longer a blah summer for free agents not named Chris Paul or Dwight Howard. One of the best coaching minds in NBA history just became available, which should prompt the Clippers to wrap their heads around the possibilities. Hiring [Karl] would be the final frontier for the Clippers to become a Finals contender. A big-time team needs a heavyweight coach, and Karl certainly qualifies. ... Karl, 62, has a sage voice and a soothing presence that would provide the kind of gravitas a largely immature team such as the Clippers needs. One of his catchphrases is "teamness," a term Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan could find useful.

Why are there no Heat or Spurs thread today? I don't get these interns sometimes. They have too many irrelevant stories they put out in T&R. Sometimes they're redundant. Just today there are 3 stories about the Clippers interested in 3 different coaches. Get w/ the program interns.

Anyways, the Spurs did their job. They limited their turnovers and they did enough to win the game. They packed in the paint and didn't allow the Heat to penetrate especially Lebron. Duncan didn't have a great game but I have a feeling Pop will post him up more in the next game. He has size and skills advantage down low over the Heat frontline. It's 1 game but the Heat have the home court this year. Home court was taken away just like what the Heat and Mavs did the previous years.

Exactly the way the Finals should be played. Exciting game from start to finish. People always get on me when I say Mario Chalmers needs to be benched in favor of Norris Cole. He proved it once again in the 4th qtr with 2 straight turnovers in a tight game and shooting 3pointers off the side of the backboard. Did anyone notice how D-Wade gave him that look of disgust and Coach Spo bench him for rest of the game?

Pops is a genius. The Spurs counter punched effectively the entire game. I predicted the Spurs experience and Pops coaching would be the difference.

This won't matter to a certain individual named GhosTown. In his eyes, Popovich is still Wino Pop who almost blew the game last night because a certain redhead played too many minutes.

And keep in mind it was a lockout shortened season. They need to win another one or suffer the doubt of many who can legitimately question if they were ever truly for real.

Looks like this series is going to take up where Miami-Indiana ended.

Going to three straight NBA Finals means you are for real I think, Doc.

I don't know about that. Perhaps. It certainly means you don't suck, but in context of what the Miami Heat were selling in terms of their prediction to win "...not one, not two, not three... etc." championships, they MUST win another one in an 82 game season or they invite much deserved scrutiny, in my opinion.
