11:55 AM ET 06.08 | Within a matter of days, the Nuggets saw the NBA's Executive of the Year in Masai Ujiri bolt to Toronto, and then proceeded to let go of George Karl, the NBA's Coach of the Year. The losses of both men are a tough blow to the organization, but team president Josh Kroenke shed a little light on the situations and why they played out the way they did. Kroenke explained that even if Denver would have matched Toronto's lucrative five-year, $15 million offer for Ujiri, the former Nuggets general manager still would have left for the Raptors because of prior relationships. As for Karl, Kroenke didn't want to extend him, but also didn't want him to be a lame duck coach in the last year of his deal if the team started slow without Danilo Gallinari. "If he was in the final year of his contract and we start off slow, that would be an impossible situation to put a coach of that stature in. I have the utmost respect for George Karl as a coach and as a person, and I did not want to put him in that situation. I felt that although it was a tough decision, I felt it was the right one to make at this point in time for us all to get a fresh start moving forward." Kroenke has no timetable in place for hiring a new general manager and coach.

Keep coming up w/ the excuses. You would think you would extend him base on your excuse. Gallo is your excuse for not extending him and you think he can't coach the team better w/out Gallo. Just say the truth and don't have faith in him anymore.

About time we can try to move on and build a champion team. Not going to happen because our biggest problem is ownership.

I know a lot of Nugget fans are getting what they wished for but, from downwind, the odor of impending disaster wafting from this organization is getting more pungent.
