02:03 AM ET 06.09 | The Detroit Lions are poised to make another run at the postseason after the offseason they've had, but the future is still all fans can talk about. It's not that the future is waiting to happen, it's just waiting to be paid for as quarterback Matthew Stafford is in need of a contract extension and the Lions want to give him one. However, according to Justin Rogers of MLive.com, the Lions are prepared to suspend contract talks with Stafford so everyone can focus on football. It's no secret that the Lions and Stafford are meant to be so that's likely why there's no rush to get a deal done when it doesn't have to be.

They finally get a decent QB and they want to jack around with him? Not good.

It's a gamble for both the Lions and for Stafford. A good year for Stafford and undoubtedly he gets a lot more. (A good year for Stafford would also be a good year for the team as well~)

And an injury means good bye money.

His problem is reality. They really have a lot of first rounders on this team that all want the big money. Sorry pal, only so much big money to go around.
