Prized QB recruit commits to Horns
As expected, Texas got an oral commitment Thursday afternoon from Lake Travis junior quarterback Garrett Gilbert, according to Rivals.com. Gilbert, a prized 2009 recruit, is No. 12 on Rivals national list and is the Longhorns' highest ranked recruit since Woodrow Wilson's Sergio Kindle in 2005. Gilbert (6-3, 186) had 23 touchdown passes and two interceptions last year. Gilbert's father, Gale, played at Cal before an 11-year NFL career.

I watched him play in his State Championship game last fall and he was solid. Windy day, but you couldn't tell watching him out there. Whoever gets him will be pleased.
