07:19 AM ET 06.10 | One of the ingredients of a good 3-4 is an anchor at nose guard -- size or strength required. Alabama has been blessed at the position during its recent run of success under Nick Saban, anchoring its 3-4 unit first with 370-pound Terrence "Mount" Cody and then with a pair of weight-room marvels in Josh Chapman and Jesse Williams. Crimson Tide coaches got a look last week at a player who could soon join that list -- Elizabethtown (Ky.) John Hardin defensive tackle Matt Elam. ... [Elam said] Rivals that Saban told him he is the Crimson Tide's No. 1 target at nose tackle. ... Elam's Rivals.com profile lists him at 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, but John Hardin coach Chad Lewis said he's closer to 370 right now -- making the comparisons with Cody inevitable.

Bama lock, but should go to Kentcky and stay home.

If they want to win CFB national championships, then the only school to attend is Bama. All others are second fiddle.

Heck, sounds like he could EAT a moose. All at one sitting. Amazing the size of some of these HS kids.

Not with processing! We can sign them all, if we want!

They raised up a kid that could up his weight and groceries. Named after a man of the Cross, named him Amos Moses.

But Cody had a flabby body at the Combine. Coach Saban failed him!

Zing! Good one, JK. Laugh and the world laughs with you.

Not a problem. Haven't you heard, every school in the SEC oversigns. That why we've won the last seven national championships.

Anybody else think it may not be a really good thing that a 17-year old kid weighs 370+ lbs?

I'm not saying the Monsanto conspiracy is all that, but obesity and nutritional changes in our society are a real concern

Both the practice and advantages of over-signiing by many footballs programs in the SEC are well documented. It will be interesting to see how the recent limits impact schools going forward.

From a health perspective, it's important especially after playing football that a program of conditioning continue while weight is lost.

Eventually in their life, no it's not a good thing. People are going to do what they want to do, though.

Actually, Cody was about 420 before we got him, so this guy is a little smaller at this point. Hopefully, we'll get him down to better weight, if he goes with us.

Brandon Ivory, who sppears to be our NT going into this year - I never thought he would amount to much, but the weight trainign program has slimmed him down and got him in a lot better shape.
