07:00 AM ET 06.11 | On Monday, Maurice Jones-Drew started trying to make amends. Providing no details about his involvement and expressing no regrets about his judgment, [Jones-Drew] met with reporters Monday at EverBank Field, his first comments since he was accused of punching a security guard May 25 at the Conch House restaurant in St. Augustine. Jones-Drew answered, dodged and ignored questions for 16 minutes, citing an ongoing investigation that police sent to the state's attorney last Friday as the reason for his lack of analysis. "It's an unfortunate situation," Jones-Drew said. ... "I never want to be a distraction to this team, period. ... About the attention on it, I'm obviously disappointed in that. Not only has it affected the team, it's affected my family."

Yeah, right. He held out through all of training camp and pre-season last year, even though he was under contract and obligated to show up. And he doesn't think that having a team's number 1 running back not show up until gametime of the regular season is a distraction?

This team is going nowhere, with or without MJD.

Except maybe London.

"I never want to be a distraction to this team, period ..."

To say he's full of **** is the understatement of the year.

"Not only has it affected the team, it's affected my family."

So the fact that you're an **** has affected your family? They probably knew you were a greedy **** long before the holdout nonsense. Next you'll be quoting Sprewell and asking for more money to clothe your children. Ignorant, ignorant, ignorant.

Note: If a restaurant has a security guard, eat someplace else.

If the reporting of the incident wasn't so **** politically correct, they probably would have said "bar" and "bouncer."

Idk they got what looks like a good new coach a hell a good running back and some improved players, I think the jags could be scary this season, maybe not superbowl contenders, but if you plan on beatin them on sundays ya better show up

Two words:

1. Blaine

2. Gabbert

It does sound contrived. Never was in a restaurant that needed a security guard. Some guys just don't know when to say when after the Entree.

I read in one article that it was a reggae festival at an oceanside pub and grub.

Scarier than last year? Thats not good. Though I did see one pre season poll that had them ranked 31st ahead of the Raiders. It is possible.

Now it makes sense. When you read his philosophy ... "In the off-season, you can go out and do what you like." then anything is possible.

Ah, reefer madness. That explains everything.

Hes young and had no previous weapons to throw to and last year they didn't even have a running game to help him out once mjd went down, they were a team full of injuries ....you just wait and see they'll surprise

yep your quite a funny guy.......not....ya just wait and see I didn't say they'll be the best or even one of the best but I do believe they'll be a solid team

June 11, 2013  10:30 AM ET

by the way whens the last time a preseason poll was right...might as well not even play the season, you already know whose gunna win it all cuz ya read a preseason poll......smfh

OK, I'll wait and see. And if they surprise me with a breakout season, I'll actually smile.

I wouldn't be surprised if this matter was settled out-of-court with details of the settlement being "unknown".

And if the waitress delivers your food after sliding down a fire pole only wearing a thong, then it's probably wise to not eat the food.

You're probably not at that restaurant for the food, anyway

Too late, Drew is a distraction again. Jags would be smart to trade this cat before his value plummets. America's Team needs a RB and Jerry doesn't care about character as long as said RB shows up on game day.
