Glendale-NHL meetings draw ire

07:21 AM ET 06.11 | Discussing the law of the matter is one thing, but the bad press can't help in Glendale. Glendale City Council members maneuvered around the state's Open Meeting Law last month when they met privately with National Hockey League executives and potential buyers of the Phoenix Coyotes, who outlined their desire to use and manage Jobing.com Arena. ... The council members clearly gave little thought about the perception they created by agreeing to the closed-door meetings, University of Arizona School of Journalism Director David Cuillier said. "If I were a citizen of Glendale, I'd be irate that my elected leaders were hiding this from me in such a deliberative, sneaky way. I mean, that's the appalling part -- that they would be so conniving about it."

So the new owners of the team, if the NHL sells, want to control and manage the Jobing.com arena. Would you? It's been a losing proposition for years. No serious fan base.
Come on, Bettman, Quebec awaits you. Hamilton awaits you. Even Seattle awaits you.

The only reason I can think of that the new owners would want control over the arena is that they expect to attract a lot of non-hockey activities there. But, I agree with you - Quebec, Hamilton, somewhere else.
