01:43 PM ET 06.11 | Jim Delany and the Big Ten agreed to a contract extension through 2018. The deal was made back in 2011, but never made public until now. Delany has been the commissioner of the Big Ten since 1989, and has guided the conference to previously unthinkable highs in terms of revenue generation. The product on the field has sagged over the past several seasons, but the money is coming in faster than ever. His extensions will keep him on board through the next round of TV contract talks, which take place in 2016/17.

10 years ago no one cared who the conference commissioner was or how long his contract lasted. I still don't care.

Nice picture. It conceals the pitchfork and tail.

Anybody else get a mental image of Deloss Dodds when they read that?

The amazing amount of popularity the sport has gone through mostly due to the product the SEC has put on the field is what has a tide rising up all ships even the Big 10 ships.

I don't think it was due to him being a whiz or anything. I feel the same about Mike Slive. Sure, he did some wheelin' and dealin' but the fact of the matter is the product on the field is the driving force behind the SEC deals, in my honest opinion.

All the experts both in the media and here laughed when Delaney announced that the Big Ten would start its own cable network. Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, we'll refrain from saying "told you so" (oops, guess I didn't refrain). Give the man his due Joe. Both in securing huge $ for the schools, and driving conference realignment, Delaney has been way out in front of everyone else.

No. Dodds always looks as if he's recovering from a stroke.

Ok, but he looks like he's taken the brunt of numerous collisions. He's buttugly. Children are frightened by his visage.

I know. I was just kind of throwing that out there. I realize it weren't too subtle.
