07:12 AM ET 06.12 | President Theo Epstein summed it up this way: "[It's] pretty obvious that it's not appropriate to criticize your manager in your organization on Twitter." Triple-A Iowa third baseman Ian Stewart was suspended without pay by the Chicago Cubs for his Twitter rant about his status in the organization. ... Stewart's agent called for the player's release, as Stewart suggested himself during a late night tweet to his followers. Epstein said the Cubs have begin conversations to "negotiate" a settlement in which Stewart will be allowed to become a free agent. But left unsaid was that Stewart will have to forfeit the remainder of his $2 million contract if he wants out. "He had the right to elect free agency and decided not to," Epstein said.

Imagine that - wanted out - AND - keep the money.......

PCL season only runs through Labor Day weekend, so enjoy Des Moines, your money, and become a free agent next year and shut up.

If only Marmol would send out that tweet

As Frustrated as Stewart might be, he is a Moron for taking his argument to Twitter.

The dude's a career .232 hitter, has never played a full season and only saw any kind of success hitting in Colorado.

Apparently he's a major league jerk who's been sent to the minors.

How long can the Cubbies suspend a player for a few stupid tweets? They suspended Milton Bradley for 15 games for his comments disparaging the team. But they ended up having to pay him for all 15 games. Maybe the Cubbies are thinned skinned because Sveum is a crappy manager. Look what he's done for Starlin Castro. If I were Stewart, I wouldn't be willing to let the Cubbies off the hook for his 2 million by negotiating a buyout. They were stupid enough to resign him for $2 million. Make them pay it.

Theo learned how to deal with entitled players while in Boston.
This will probably not wind up in Stewart's favor.

Your employer must enjoy your attitude?

Theo left the Red Sox in turmoil. Look at how much they have improved since he left.
