CC says goodbye to velocity

07:13 AM ET 06.12 | Over the past few months, Joe Girardi had tried to provide reassurance that CC Sabathia's velocity would come back in time for summer. Sabathia isn't waiting any longer. "I think this is probably what it's going to be -- and I'm fine with that," Sabathia said. ... "I can pitch with this. I just have to make sure I'm hitting my spots." Sabathia wasn't surprised when the subject came up, but it was clear based on his reaction that it's not something he's spent much time thinking about. It was never an issue for me; I guess it was an issue for everybody else," Sabathia said. "It is what it is; that's all I've said since the beginning. There's not much else I can say or do about it. This is just one of those deals where I have to try to adapt."

You need some new material.

No doubt. The problem is, I think CC is just growing older. Welcome to life. Doesn't mean he can't pitch. Tudor's fastball was what 90... and he was very successful.

However, after his next win (when I hope he is somewhat dominant) I am putting together a package (fantasy league) and trading his **** for hopefully a star keeper position player or pitcher. I figure something like CC and J Up should get me something nice in return.
I am tired of yelling at the TV every time he pitches and the dog hiding behind the couch.

And, didn't we already cover all of this at least three times already in these threads? In fact, if my memory serves me well (flips quarters to Rick Danko & Bob Dylan), it seems to me one thread was based on a news article almost exactyy like the one this thread is base.

Tom Seaver once said that to be able to pitch great games you have to have three things going for you 1. is velocity 2. is location and 3. is movement. If you only have2 of those things in a game you can be competitive and if your team can get some clutch hits you can still win. If Sabathia without his velocity will have to learn to be more of a pitcher instead of trying to blow away hitters. Sabathia is only 32 but with the body of a 38 year old.

Definately more difficult to go through the batting order 4 times without somebody catching up to you. You don't always need velocity but it helps a great deal when you at least have some and use it in key spots.

Fixed.
