Vols on brink of serious penalties

07:19 AM ET 06.12 | Welcome to a new game, Butch Jones. Tennessee's football program is teetering on the brink of serious penalties after another sub-par round of academic numbers that was released on Tuesday. Tennessee's football team scored a 924 in the NCAA's newest batch of academic progress rate (APR) data. The multi-year rates cover a four-year period from the 2008-2009 through 2011-2012 academic years. The current NCAA threshold for participating in the postseason is 900. That standard will rise to 930 for 2014, potentially putting the Vols in peril but also allowing them time to catch up. ... Jones was briefed on the bleak APR outlook before he was hired, so the numbers are unlikely to be a shock for him.

Wouldn't UTk have to, you know, win some football games for this to matter?

No...it won't matter.

I'm sure when BP gets their, they'll have their academic records in order and he'll be able to focus on football.

Rut Roh....that'll surely draw a witty response from a certain creamsicle orange kuhne dog aggie.

"May the ice cream chaser significantly trail the previously ingested jalapeno peppers and provide no cooling relief to the delicate orifice upon exit."

That's my best attempt at one.

[Insert in florid prose expected admonition against shizzling up a Tennessee thread]

Let ye whose favored team has not suffered on the field doldrums cast the first shizzle.

I think they are all in mourning over the Rees announcement and please excuse my sarcasm about the Vols. I really do like their program (even though they broke my heart a few years ago when they "rallied" from a big defecit to beat my beloved Irish at home...!).

I think you did pretty well with that one. Maybe not quite to the level of "florid prose", but a decent facsimile thereof.
