01:13 PM ET 06.12 | The University of Pittsburgh has given athletic director Steve Pederson a contract extension running through 2018. Pederson was able to get Pitt out of the Big East and into the safety of the ACC, which wil be the new home for Panthers athletics starting in 2013. While that is certainly the biggest and best line on Pederson's resume, he also has a patchy history of making good coaching hires, hiring Bill Callahan at Nebraska, as well as Mike Haywood and Todd Graham at Pitt. However, the program has gotten past that with Paul Chryst, and things appear to be looking up.

It's Pitt!

He should have been dumped in a trash can long ago.

QUOTE(#8):

Pitt doesn't matter in college sports. No fans or students attend their football games played in the Steelers Stadium across town. Jamie Dixon loses quickly in the NCAA's every year. Womans basketball is a joke. No campus at Pitt just traffic and streets and parallel parking galore and hills lots of them. And the Pitt campus is next to the black hill district a crime breeding infested slum.

All lies with a racist leaning. The only thing you said which is true is that there is a lot of hills. Pittsburgh is a beautiful city and the Oakland section of Pittsburgh where Pitt is located is also very nice. It's the taxpayers stadium and not the Steelers Stadium. The Hill District is not next to the Pitt campus.

Could be worse, he could have been the AD that hired Mike Rice (former Rutgers round ball coach).

QUOTE(#10):

Then what is next to the new sports complex by the old field house?? The Hill District where you enter in day time only at your own risk? No one attends Pitt Football games. No student support. Try parallel parking sometime. Pitt has no campus. No dorms pe se.

The Hill District is near downtown near where the old Civic Arena used to be. Have u even been to Pittsburgh ? As far as fan support, Pittsburgh is a pro sports town with the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates but Pitt football draws well compared to other colleges in Pro sports towns.
