Herm Edwards said it perfectly on ESPN:

When you're in Court atleast have the courtesy to wear a Suit...

Based on the original charges, Chad was getting off clean - until he got in his own way... Again.

But, but, but.............he's so smart and funny, and clever and, and, with time to do a lot of writing for the next month.................."I must not be a total jerk in court".

If I were the judge and the lawyer used " patting another individual on the backside is viewed as a sign of respect and gratitude" by NFL players, then I would give him 48 hours to produce film footage of his client Patting team mates on the backside.

Not a gonna happen. It ain't there to produce....

June 12, 2013  04:50 PM ET

Hopefully the judge will reconsider....and give him more time in jail. Johnson is and remains utterly clueless.

Commenting on my own comment: As a judge, I would ask his lawyer to look around and see if he sees anyone with helmets on and pads or a football in the room. If not, then his reason is irrelevant. It is a court room, not a football game.

Jeesh!

She should give the lawyer 15 days for insulting her intelligence with that as his defense.

Everything's a game to Chad

I guess the judge was upset that he got probation for assaulting his wife in the first place, then when he didn't follow those rules, and she felt he dis-respected her court, she lowered the hammer...er gavel. I wonder how long Judge Judy would have given the clown? She really should reconsider the sentence, and make it at least 6 months.

June 12, 2013  05:03 PM ET

It could've been worse, I suppose. He could have laughed at the judge and flipped her the bird.

June 12, 2013  06:48 PM ET

Did anybody watch the video? The Judge was freaking livid. Her whole body was twitching as she forced herself not go apeshart on him.

In Hollywood, LiLo would already be out on good behavior and back in court on a new crime. She has literally served under 8 hours for 30 day sentences a few times.

I have to say that I was surprised when I watched the video. I just saw it today, finally. Chad's a big idiot kid. He probably still doesn't get why what he did wasn't okay, but that judge, in my opinion, had some problem with him to start with. Unless the guy was filling the court with his Chadness for quite a while at that point, I just don't think her response was appropriate. I couldn't figure out if she had an emotional issue or if she's trying to look tough on stupidity for an upcoming election cycle, but it seemed over the top to me. And I'm not saying Chad isn't an ****. He is.

Personally, I would have used a racial slur. Because that's exactly what he is.

Yes, the sentence should be reconsidered. For domestic violence, he should have gotten 30 years, not 30 days. And I hope the judge extends his sentence over the stupidity of his lawyer's request.
