07:03 AM ET 06.13 | When this portion of the practice season breaks up, Gus Bradley will have his work cut out for him in choosing a No. 1 quarterback. Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne are competing for the starting job and Bradley said they have gotten an equal number of reps. The conventional wisdom is that Gabbert has the edge because he was the first-round pick two years ago, but Henne is getting a shot. "I want to be the guy and be a franchise quarterback and if it happens, it happens. If not, I'm just going to keep going back on the roller coasting and keep competing and wait for my chance," Henne said. Asked about the team's progress as offseason work winds down, Bradley said, "I'm very pleased with where we are right now."

Franchise quarterback? Is he going to buy himself a McDonalds?

That's a little rich, he should set his sights on a Blimpie's - something attainable.

There's always the CFL or Arena league

Once again... reinforcing my post from yesterday about the Queens.

Which one of these guys sucks less?

June 13, 2013  08:08 AM ET

Tee hee, Chad. You Millennials always want to be promoted to the top echelon regardless of your skill set.

June 13, 2013  08:14 AM ET

Yeah, but will they love him in London?

A lemonade stand in the neighborhood would be pushing it.

The term Franchise Quarterback used with the name Jacksonville constitutes a contradiction of terms. A veritable oxymoron. Like jumbo shrimpl

June 13, 2013  08:45 AM ET

You call that a franchise?

Chad Henne is an American success story. With limited ability to do his job ( 42 tds-48 ints. ) , he has lasted 6 years in the NFL. He just received a $3 million bonus and will make another $3.75 million by the end of next year. In addition he is currently eligible to receive $2,550 a month in retirement pensions if he never plays again.

What a Country!

Ditto the Jets.

And in the 2011 draft, Jacksonville trades to move up and with the 10th pick select: " From The University of Missouri, quarterback Blaine Gabbert."

And in November 2011, GM Gene Smith is given a new three-year contract extension.

Stuff ya just cannot make up.

Henne's not a franchise QB, but the offense looked a lot better with him at the helm. Fun fact, Blaine Gabbert had a phantom injury and was benched in favor of his younger brother as a senior in high school.
