Clippers, Doc Rivers have mutual interest

05:42 PM ET 06.13 | Don't put those rumors about Doc Rivers joining the Los Angeles Clippers to bed just yet. There's much to be resolved in Boston before it becomes a possibility, for sure. But ESPN reports that Rivers would be interested in hearing the Clippers' pitch should he and the Celtics decide to go in different directions. Additionally, sources said that the Clippers would consider Rivers their first choice if he became available. That would bump Rivers ahead of Lionel Hollins and Brian Shaw in that race to take over for fired head coach Vinny Del Negro. But again, it goes back to Boston and whether Rivers and general manager Danny Ainge see the Celtics as a rebuilding franchise. If Rivers isn't convinced Boston can make another deep playoff push next year with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce piling up the mileage, the opportunity in LA might be more appealing.

Of course Rivers is interested in coaching the Clippers. Boston is done being a title contender. After next year, the Celtics are in rebuild mode. The Clippers on the other hand looks ready to make a run for the championship. That is if the stars line up. Chris Paul resigns with the team. And Blake Griffin stays healthy.

Blake Griffin just staying healthy isn't gonna cut it. He needs to get better. Add post moves, and his jumper is still below average.
As far as Paul is concerned, yeah he makes flashy plays now and then, talks a LOT (as a "leader'), but really hasn't won a darn thing!!!! Too much hype for a player that hasn't even been to the conference finals.

Clippers have too many holes right now.
