07:09 AM ET 06.14 | In case this hasn't been made abundantly clear by the man himself, Rex Ryan doesn't care about what most people think. He knows he's made mistakes. And the Jets' coach has paid for them the past two seasons. But the defiant Ryan expects to have the last laugh. "I'm a [heck] of a lot better football coach than I'm given credit for," Ryan said in a sit-down interview with Newsday, minutes after the team concluded its final mandatory minicamp practice Thursdayafternoon. "I don't care," he added with a smile. "I don't need the credit. But I can tell you one thing, when it's said and done, they'll look back and say, 'Oh man, this dude can coach his butt off.' And you know what? It's true."

Soon he'll be as transient as his little brother, both living off their fathers reputation.

Agreed. Not every coordinator is HC material... just ask Wade, Norv, and Lovie.

Biggest clown in the NFL.

That being said, the teams, especially year 1&2 weren't uber talented, and i do believe he got more out of those teams than what they were....and does deserve credit...

I'd have to agree with that.

But it's like Wile E. Coyote - you can only run so far on thin air. When you look down and see the canyon floor a mile below, down you go.

And some HC aren't even coordinator material, just ask Jim Zorn
