07:11 AM ET 06.14 | These are busy days for new president of basketball operations Flip Saunders. The Timberwolves conducted another round of predraft workouts on Thursday and then [Saunders] quickly slipped out of Target Center to catch a flight to see Indiana guard Victor Oladipo on Friday. Saunders flew to Las Vegas two weeks ago to watch Russian guard Sergey Karasev in a pro-day workout. On Thursday, he headed to the Washington, D.C. area to see a player the Wolves would have to move from their ninth pick into the top five -- or maybe even top two -- to get a chance to draft. The Wolves have limited assets to swing such a deal, namely third-year forward Derrick Williams, second-year guard Alexey Shved and the ninth and/or 26th picks in the draft.

Wolves have to move too far up to get a SG they desire. They have the 9th and the 26th pick. They must be at 3 to have a chance at McLemore or Oladipo because the Bobcats are going for one of these IMO. Wizards at 3 first option will be Potter, I don't think they will want to move down.

Doesn't MKG play the same position?

If anyone gives up more than a 2nd rounder for Williams, they should change their name to Dumars.

MKG plays the 3. Oladipo is a 2 but I actually think he can play the 2-3. Bobcats are not trading for a Williams that's for sure. To me Oladipo is the safest pick in the draft you are getting a defensive stopper who is a slasher who has worked on his offensive game but needs to improve his dribble. I wouldn't count on lights out shooting ability but he is good and has shown he can work on his game at the college level.

Mr Gilbert?

Being a Cavs fan- I believe that this would be a great coup for pick #1. We have a hole at the 4, which could be filled by Williams. Despite what many contend; Williams has had some monster games in the latter part of the past season. The main reason to trade down is to pick up cheap contracts so our books are clean; and we have a better chance of getting a starter with no risk- iunlike the #1 pick in this weak draft. #9 could position us for Steve Adams or even Len. Alexey Shed would be a high level backup big PG for Kyrie ( who has not played a full season). Then we would not have to lock Sean Livingston up on a long-term contract. The 26th pick coupd reap a shooter like Crabbe or slasher like Rice jr.

correction: we have a hole at the 3

DJ would be an upgrade with my Cavs. So, we could get a legit starter, with still alot of potential, at a need position- rather than take the risk on Nerlens Noel. At the Wolves #9, we could get a future starting center in Steven Adams or Len at Maryland. In addition to Shed as a young big PG backup for Kyrie. Derrick Williams avg. 12 pts and 5.5 rebounds in only 24 minutes per game! I have pasted his splits for the last 5 games: 30 minutes per game; 15.6ppg; 45%FG; 6.8rebounds; 85% FT%; 35% threepointers.......the guy is a starter on a young team.

this team is doomed. Rubio and Love make a good pair but not a top shelf pair. Just not enought talent here and none coming in the foreseeable future.

Or McHale.

They must have the interns write this stuff. I think they want to trade Luke Ridnour for a high draft pick too! Gimme a break.

I'm a wolves fan and agree with u Williams has some good upsides and hes young, and he'll get better a lot better, I feel like the wolves won't gain anything by this pick they'll give up a kid who needs development for a kid that need some development although oladipo does look like he might be a hella good player

I don't know. Are the T Wolves about to trade Williams for a draft pick? Unusual "journalism". No facts, no insight, just a question. Why it should be published is anyone's guess. Also, who cares? It's the T Wolves. They play in Minnesota and are irrelevant.

Oh, I've heard that MJ has a few issues when valuing players. And the Bobcats have the 4th pick.
