07:22 AM ET 06.14 | In the case of the Coyotes and their viability in the desert, Glendale city councilman Gary Sherwood cut through a good deal of noise Thursday in the wake of Gary Bettman's "stuff is gonna happen" comment. [There's] a new pipe dream to consider, a mystery candidate that Sherwood would not reveal, one with a lot of cash and better terms for his city. The mystery buyer told Sherwood he'd have his bid together by Friday. It sounded too good to be true. ... "But that's part of the problem," Sherwood said. "There are other groups lurking that the NHL hasn't brought to us. They have their one candidate. And the way I look at it is, maybe Renaissance (Sports and Entertainment) is the best for the NHL, but maybe only second- or third-best for Glendale."

Another mystery candidate. This farce is no longer funny, if it ever was.

Why would anyone buy the Yotes? That is the mystery

Can somebody drive a stake through the heart of this dog? It refuses to die! Must be a werecoyote.

Has anybody asked Mrs. Doan lately.

Did Sherwood just admit that its not a good thing for the NHL to have a team in Phoenix?

I was going to say Scottsdale but you were first with Phoenix and it is more funny. Well played Nard Dog.

What absolutely kills me is that if this was the mid 90s, and this team was based in a Canadian city, they would've been left for dead and sold for peanuts the first go around. We're on what, year 5 now? What can you even say to that?

Or if they were in Atlanta 2 years ago

A Mexican druglord?

Len Barrie, Mr Len Barrie... paging Mr Len Barrie. We are sorry... Mr Barrie has flown already... bot, eet wazn't zat frash, hany-ways.

It'd make more sense to sell the franchise to a very well-heeled present-day franchise owner who could then incorporate whatever players and management, into his existing operation, and then hold the franchise right, for future sale into a new market and a new 'acceptable' ownership willing to pick the franchise up and relocate it, under whatever pro-vision.

At least a dozen or so, of the present day owners have the where-with-all to carry this out.
