07:43 PM ET 06.14 | Pressure is mounting on New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan following last year's 6-10 campaign, but Ryan said he doesn't care about outside opinions of his abilities, and offered a forceful defense of his coaching acumen in a recent interview with Newsday (NY). "I'm a hell of a lot better football coach than I'm given credit for," Ryan said Thursday. "I can tell you one thing, when it's said and done, they'll look back and say, 'Oh man, this dude can coach his butt off.'"

<Ryan said he doesn't care about outside opinions of his abilities>

What are these abilities he speaks of?

Looks like that lapband surgery is working too well. Rex Ryan is starting to look sickly thin.

June 14, 2013  10:54 PM ET

It sounds like he thinks if he believes it enough, his next employer will, too.

Ahhhhh hahahahahaha haaha!

...giggles.

He could use a G..D... snack.

Everyone can giggle, but he did get to two AFC championship games. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure it was just the players. Bulloney, Prove me wrong. Thank you for your apology in advance.

Probably ,due too stress.

June 15, 2013  02:59 AM ET

Ryan is a moron. He'll be gone after about 5 games next season.

I'm strangely biased, though. If a coach lacks the discipline to keep himself healthy, it's hard for me to take him seriously and I imagine it affects the locker room.

And all Rex did was set an example that taking the easy way out is perfectly acceptable. What kind of lesson does *that* send to his players?

Rex, you are who they think you are. End of story.

June 15, 2013  07:23 AM ET

C'mon on man

June 15, 2013  07:42 AM ET

Decent D Coordinator, lousy coach. Won't bench his horrible, under performing players and each season writes checks his team can't cash. He's probably gone after this year and he can thank Sanchez for the bulk of that. He'll catch on somewhere else on the D side though.

June 15, 2013  07:56 AM ET

then when are you going to show us how good a coach you are? seems to me he would be winning a few more games than what he has.

Hey, I'm first to admit I wanted to like the guy. As to your position... He went that far because he was the new guy. New guy always gets a spark.

Rex? 9, 11, 8, 6 wins. Trending down. Why? He can't build a team, and has had too much control over the team makeup. Look how he behaved when forced to take Tebow - Like a big baby.

Consider yourself proved wrong.

Repeat thread. It was all said previously.

June 15, 2013  08:27 AM ET

He is referring to his toe sucking abilities.

They had a lot of help from the Colts to get to the first AFC title game... but last I checked, there weren't any semi-finalist awards in the NFL.

What's he done since then?
