02:09 PM ET 06.15 | Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing expects to be back by the start of training camp, according to Nick Scurfield of the team's official website. Cushing, who is recovering from an ACL injury, said that he'll be cleared by Dr. James Andrews on July 17. Of course, this is provided that there are no setbacks between now and then. If things go as Cushing plans, he should be ready for day one of Texans training camp, which starts July 26. Cushing suffered the torn ACL on Oct. 8 last year, ending his season after just five games. It was a huge disappointment for the Texans, given that Cushing was among the top players at his position in 2011, and was Houston's MVP that year, as well. A first round pick in 2009, Cushing is entering a crucial contract year. He'll be looking for a big payday once he wraps up his rookie deal this season. Cushing and the team have yet to discuss a contract extension, which is likely due to the injury.

He had his injury 3 months before RGIII, hopefully he can be back at the same time RG is back... I think the Texans still need something they don't have. Foster will go to camp coming off leg issues during OTAs. I like Kubiak, but it will be time for a coaching change if they don't get there this year.

Cleared to play like RGIII was before blowing out his knee?

A lot of players cheat. He got caught, and has NO remorse. The heck with him. I used to like and respect, but he and his HGH-driven self can go to hell.

Makes me feel better about my ACL recovery: injured in April, surgery in May, plan to be back and better than ever in December. Of course, I'm 49 so I'm not sure why Cushing's recovery is going to be as long as mine.

He got hurt on a dirty play right? Chop blocked away from the ball?

That is correct and since have been a vocal critic of the NFL not extending protections to players besides QBs and kickers.
