04:48 PM ET 06.15 | The Rangers are set to hire Alain Vigneault as their new head coach. Vigneault comes to New York from Vancouver, where he became the Canucks' all-time winningest coach, won two Presidents Trophies, advanced to the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals and won the Jack Adams Award, but his 1-10 playoff record since Game 7 of the Cup Finals doomed him. The Rangers have been looking for a new coach since firing John Tortorella after being eliminated in the second round of the playoffs and after Vigneault met with general manager Glen Sather on Tuesday, he's been the clear cut No. 1 candidate. Now, he has the job.

Too bad the sisters got him fired, and not to mention the useless GM, sorry swamp but Alain IMO wasn't the issue. Tortorella yes, but I don't agree with Vancouvers decision. Decent coach, so lets see if the stars on broadway will play for this guy...

He'll have to change his motivational "You go girl" that he used in Vancouver.

Oh oh

lol

Why is it always the coaches fault? If you go to work and don't like your boss, you don't stop working as hard or at all to get him fired. Or....if you are a GM you deal with pressing matters such as 2 #1 tenders with one that you want to rid yourselves of that you still owe much money and who is still decent in net, but let that and other issues fester in the locker room till no one cares about the games, cause they have a whatever attitude.

Alain had the same players for awhile, and the players in this league should take responsibility for there work or lack there of and be assigned a team suspension when effort is lacking.

Just cause you sign a contract....it shouldn't mean you get a pass and the coach gets fired cause it must be a system, instead of players getting away with not putting effort in.

Players get paid well, and the Sedins did S.F.A for that team since that run where it was a score of 8-0? I think that was the score. Yup......all Alain's fault.

Don't blame the Sedin's it's all on Gillis he didn't get better top 9 forwards to take the heat off the Twins and by shutting them down you shut down the team a #3 center with shutdown skills a shooting winger(one that scores) a couple better top 9 wingers and a totally new and better 4th line would help immensely

I put them at the top. Sorry but I've watched them look at the refs because others have given a dirty look......ok so not that bad, but they are bad for it. It's not just them it was the whole team, and this moron of a GM IMO, that messed things up. The team isn't that much different than two years ago. So why is just the GM and not players too?

You had to see the lack of effort on the part of quite a few players this year. It was a whatever kinda approach, but I'm a Leafs fan.........so although most believe it, we actually don't know everything! I know, I know its hard to believe but it's true ;)

I'd be happy. Good coach and doesn't need to feed his ego like the last one, who is also a good coach......just not great in the playoffs and New York :)

In NY, Rick Nash may be the one to play the sisters role. Too bad they don't have Gaborik anymore or, it would've been the perfect storm.

Nash needs to watch a Lucic hockey video...eat some nails whatever it takes. He should own the ice out there.
