05:19 AM ET 06.16 | The Jacksonville Jaguars passed on the chance to take a quarterback high in the NFL Draft this year and seem content with starting Blaine Gabbert in 2013. Per a report in the Florida Times-Union, the Jaguars will be naming Gabbert the starting quarterback this season "barring a horrific August." It's really not that big of a surprise nor was it that close of a contest when it came to who would be the Jaguars quarterback in 2013. They passed on a top prospect in the draft and instead made a move to beef up their offensive line to protect Gabbert and allow him to grow into the role he's struggled to find a footing in. There is a possiblity that the Jaguars aren't sold on Gabbert though, but that hasn't grown to the type of animosity that warrants a benching or a quarterback controversy. Had they brought in a Tim Tebow or a guy who could compete with Gabbert for the starting gig, we could revisit the idea that the Jaguars are looking to replace the former first-round draft pick.

I see the teams reasoning... Bringing in Tebow would have just muddied the waters, build your O Line and see if Gabbert can progress. If not, next year you fix the QB position.

There weren't any real franchise QB's in this year's draft that will do any better this year (and maybe they will never be better) than Blaine Gabbert. The Jags did the smart thing, hold off confusing the situation any further and beef up the O-line. They can make a move when a real franchise QB is available.

You thinking the playoffs might be out of reach?

I miss the old coaches like Mora, Parcells, Edwards, Green - they gave you real pressers on Tuesday mornings. I used to TIVO ESPNnews all day on Tuesdays and come home from work and spin through all the pressers. Ahh, the good old days.

"What's that? Ah -- Playoffs? Don't talk about -- playoffs?! You kidding me?! Playoffs?! I just hope we can win a game! Another game!"

The Jags had to build their O line regardless of who they have at QB. So why not give Gabbert some protection and see what happens? A very good decision considering there weren't any real must-haves at QB in this year's draft anyway.

I totally understand the Jags desire to start Gabbert this season. I mean if they brought in Tebow they might have a legitimate QB competition and even possibly win a couple of games. Not to mention start to develop a national fan base. Those kinds of things make moving your franchise to Los Angeles so much more difficult. Khan is a businessman. Does anyone really think that the organization believes Gabbert can be a decent NFL QB? That would be based upon what? Mediocre play and the worst QBR in the NFL consistently. All those Jags fans who didn't want Tebow won't have a team for long....only question is when.

not a jaguars fan but they should have signed Tebow, at least they could fill the stadium
