RGIII, Mike Shanahan still face tough decisions

11:00 AM ET 06.16 | All doctors have to do is examine quarterback Robert Griffin III, put him through tests and determine whether his twice reconstructed right knee has healed completely. That's easy. Then comes the hard part for Washington Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan: everything else about Griffin's return. After Griffin is medically cleared to practice, Shanahan must decide when he will play for the first time since he tore knee ligaments during a playoff game last January. If Griffin achieves his goal of being reinstated at the beginning of training camp late next month, should he start in Washington's preseason opener? Should he play at all during the exhibition season? What about the regular-season opener? The young superstar is both the present and future of the franchise. Would it make the most sense for the Redskins to take it slowly with Griffin before reintroducing him to the intensity of the regular season? So many tough calls -- all Shanahan's to make. No matter how many doctors check off on Griffin's comeback, protecting Griffin falls on the guy at the top of the Redskins' depth chart.

Hail to the Redskins!

Shanny played him right after he was injured. You do the math.

There's no right answer.

Cutler is injured and sits out a Playoff game and gets called soft among other things.
RGIII gets injured worse and It's all Shanny's fault.

Good point and DR. Andrews cleared RG to play last year, even after he damaged the knee!!!! Shanny will have to find a way to protect RG, or else RG will get hurt again. RG has those skinny legs, that invite knee injuries!!!

It was both Shanny's and DR. Andrews fault!!!! I still don't understand why DR. Andrews is the team doctor and is on the sidelines every Skins game and yet he allowed RG to play, even when RG couldn't walk on a damaged knee. I don't think anyone is blaming RG, either Shanny or the Doctor has to "man up" and take the blame!!!

Shanny's only hope for a secure job is at high risk!

If RGIII is alive and breathing, Shanahan will put him on the field.

Okay, then it was Shanny's fault, right??

They must pay Dr. Andrews damn well for him to still work for that team.

The Redskins organization is damaging his credibility by ignoring his advice and refusing to own up to it.

Since neither Andrews or Shanahan seem to care , it's up to RGIII to protect himself and his career....
