07:07 AM ET 06.17 | In the case of the Seahawks against Jim Harbaugh, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll has decided to take the high road this time. In an NFL Network interview, he had nothing but praise for Harbaugh and the 49ers. "They've done a marvelous job since Jim took over and they've done it all on the field." ... His comments are especially surprising considering the personal rivalry between Harbaugh and Carroll that dates back to their days coaching college football. In 2009, Harbaugh's underdog Stanford squad pulled off an upset over Carroll's USC team. ... Carroll's commendation of Jim Harbaugh could put an end to the war of words that has erupted this offseason, but it's the battle on the field that matters.

He's not going to go through this media tug of war... Just going to settle it on the field.

Way to go about business.

He's burying the hatchet. Right between Harbaugh's shoulder blades.

I hope Pete tries to freeze the 49ers kicker, too. It worked out so well the last time he tried it.

Petey Carroll had an axe,

he gave the NCAA 40 whacks,

When he had seen what he had done,

he gave the NFL 41

The title of this post makes me think of the Looney Tunes where Foghorn Leghorn tells the farm dog that he wants to bury the hatchet and the dog immediately covers his head with his paws. Foghorn then says, "Not in your pointy little head, son". :^)

Probably not, but I'm sure he's read reports of the six Seahawks players who have tested positive for PEDs since December 2011.

And it shouldn't. I still maintain that the American Eagle has a bigger gripe about name usage in the NFL.
