07:30 AM ET 06.17 | Just how real is speculation that the Coyotes could wind up in Seattle? Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has acknowledged recent discussions with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. In a statement, McGinn said about two weeks ago a representative of Chris Hansen introduced him to potential investors in an NHL team, who also met with a number of Seattle City Council members. And McGinn said last week he spoke with NHL Commissioner Bettman. "Our message to all parties has been the same: We believe we can support an NHL team as a tenant at KeyArena, and as a potential tenant of a new arena, subject to all parties reaching agreement on terms," McGinn said. McGinn went on to say "As recent news reports indicate, it appears the NHL is taking the new ownership proposal seriously."

I think the Coyotes will wind up in Seattle, Quebec, Ontario, Kansas City or maybe not. It's possible they'll get a new owner...........or maybe not. They may move to Tucson....or not. I understand that a new owner may be announced this week, or last week, or next year or maybe not. What I DO know is that we'll have 674 meaningless threads on this subject in the next month.

I believe this because the way the NHL realigned the league next year, there are 16 teams in the East and 14 teams in the West (Which is dumb if you ask me). So if Phoenix was moving to Quebec, they would have to be in the East, and there is no way they can have 17 teams in one conference and 13 teams in another conference. I also believe that the NHL will eventually expand to 32 teams, so they can have 4 even divisions of 8 teams, and both will be in the Western Conference.

With Bettman at the helm, it wouldn't surprise me at all to be reading about the Coyotes ownership issues well into the next decade.

So the Seattle Investor's must be all 5'2" so Bettman feels inferior standing next to them?

I do remember that Bettman and Daly, back in 2011, required everybody (mayor, investor, etc...) in Winnipeg and Quebec City to be quiet about relocation, threatening them to "forget" them if a possible relocation occurred. He also required both cities to have brand new, NHL-ready arenas before being possible relocation places.

Now, Seattle's mayor can talk aloud about relocation and can a team that will play in an arena not made for hockey for 2 years. Bettman's double standards, eh?

Quite possibly. A Seattle team would have to play in a 11,000 capacity barn for two years. I just don't see it, but if it happens we'll definitely see what hole Gary is talking out of.

Bettman would be inferior by any measure, mentally or physically...except perhaps matching up against some to the interns (and indeed...some of the denizens!) if these boards
