02:07 PM ET 06.17 | New Orleans assistant general manager Tim Connelly is the new executive vice president of basketball operations for the Denver Nuggets. The 36-year-old who joined the Washington Wizards in 1996 as an intern and quickly climbed the ranks in D.C. will take over a front office hit by league turnover. The Nuggets lost general manager Masai Ujiri to the Toronto Raptors and then saw his underling, Pete D'Alessandro, take the general manager position with the Sacramento Kings. Connelly joins Denver with a heavy stack of items on the to-do list. He must immediately commence with draft preparations and the hiring of a head coach. Denver fired coach George Karl after he led the Nuggets to 57 wins in 2012-13 and won the NBA Coach of the Year honor.
