Cavs to pick Alex Len with No. 1 overall pick?

03:48 PM ET 06.17 | The Cleveland Cavaliers still haven't made it clear who they will select with the top pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, but Maryland center Alex Len could be emerging as the choice. According to one report, Len has become the likely option for Cleveland with the top pick -- despite his inability to workout for teams due to a stress injury which has kept him sidelined for weeks. In the recent months leading up to the draft, most analysts had assumed that the Cavs would take another injured college big man, Kentucky's Nerlens Noel, with the No. 1 overall pick, but it seems possible Len could be the preferred target for some teams. Taller, more polished offensively and more likely to play early next season than Noel, the Terrapins center could be the first name announced by David Stern when the draft goes down June 27.

current injury, not a great year at maryland.....am I the only one who actually sees red flags here?

Better than Noel though. No offensive skill set whatsoever, bum knee, and a twig at 200lbs trying to play center in the big league.

Are you thinking the Cavs should be looking for a good shooting wing to replace Miles as a starter? They have Thompson, Zellar, Varajeo, and could sign Oden, who IMO is better than Noel or Len.

Athletic Big Z lol he has some game and that is a compliment. Once he gets a little bit stronger he will be a factor. Ankle surgery is a question but I think he is the real deal. I think he is a safer pick than Noel with a little more balance to his game.

Len will be a solid big-guy off the bench for many years in the NBA. He will never be a starter. As weak as this draft is, if I have the #1 pick, I'm going with someone who at least projects as a starter. And stay clear of Nerlens.

The problem is they see McLemore as a 2 and already have Waiters. There is no sure bet lights out 3. Porter is the perfect role player he reminds me of a Tayshan Prince does a lot of good things right. I can't see a role player being picked 1st. Varejeo is good but is probably worth more in a potential trade.

I hope Len drops to the Sixers. Look at the state of centers in the NBA. Len compares well to current centers. Give him a good pg let him get a little stronger and watch how much better he will look. Len will be starting for a few teams if healthy.

Sad, when a team holds the 1st pick of the entire draft and must search to find even one starter in it. So Porter is not better than Miles? If not, then drafting him is not an upgrade for the position. Is it possible that there is not a player in the draft that can improve on the starting five for one of the worst teams in the league?

Why does the NBA hold the draft before free agency begins? It would be better for a team to know who they signed in free agency before they draft.

Porter probably is better than Miles I am not saying that. He probably will end up filling in more holes than Miles could defensively and hustle wise. The question is he the best of the best for your team. A difference maker at center is worth more than a role player at SF. Center is the hardest position to fill. Miles had a decent year and some good games with the Cav's and comes cheap. This is a hard draft to judge but I don't see Porter going first.

Trade the pick for multiple picks.

Using a high draft pick to draft a guy named Len from Maryland is not a great idea. It could set your team back for 20 years. Just ask the Celtics.

The whole first round is a red flag.

They need to trade down and get a pick and a young vet.
