Tebow still costing Jets

07:05 AM ET 06.18 | Storylines o' plenty will follow Gang Green into training camp, but few ex-Jets will loom larger than Tim Tebow. Tebow's contract with the Patriots is a two-year deal for $1.36 million, according to ESPNBoston.com. There's no signing bonus, no guaranteed money, just the minimum salaries and a $25,000 workout bonus in 2014. The Jets aren't paying Tebow anymore, but they're still paying money to the Broncos -- $1.53 million, per last year's trade agreement. In other words, the Jets are paying more for a ghost than the Patriots will pay over two years for the actual player -- if he makes the team. That's hardly a lock, although owner Robert (We Love His Spirituality) Kraft is pulling for him. Tebow is "the real deal," according to Kraft.

Yeah... my heart breaks for 'em.

Pats will have tebow play in practice to help the D get more reps against a "running QB" to prepare for teams like the Skins, Seahawks, Iggles, 49er's, etc....that all have a QB that represents a run threat....he may not make the team for the regular season and will likely be one of the roster spots that can be easily vacated if a good player goes down to injury and they need to sign a new player to reinforce that position.

June 18, 2013  07:35 AM ET

and it's laughable that they'd play him much at any other position....they must be joking about having him play TE....there is no chance that talent can cover the gap between his complete lack of knowledge of the position and the level he'd need to be at to play at an NFL level....there is no way that he is better than guys that have been playing TE since HS....

June 18, 2013  07:50 AM ET

The Dark Lord is Machiavellian enough to keep him on the roster just so that other teams have to prepare for him. Then he'll put him in as a blocker on the punting team, and never go to him, just so the other team has to watch him.

Tebow's already in their heads. Even if he never plays a down.

Tebow's not exactly on the level of those quarterbacks, but I guess it's more to practice against than most teams have.

LOL..... Oh those Jets.

June 18, 2013  08:08 AM ET

Just like the Jelly of the Month Club (Christmas Vacation) Tebow is the gift that gives year round.

June 18, 2013  08:11 AM ET

Pretty sure the Jets aren't the only team in the NFL that are still paying guys who have been released.....what a bs story this is.....

June 18, 2013  08:12 AM ET

Hope he gets this much air time during the season... Not.

June 18, 2013  08:13 AM ET

Damn hot clicks.

I'm with Schultzie, any way to tack Tebow onto a story, it goes front page.

Having Dick Vitales name under the pic is just wrong. Like the aversion therapy in A Clockwork Orange.

Ahh...life is good! And thanks Evol!!

June 18, 2013  09:11 AM ET

Lets hope that Robert Kraft will introduce Tim Tebow to his good friend Vladmir Putin.

True, and what was the alternative? Keep him? For what? If it works out for them, fine, but I doubt he will be on any game day roster. We are talking about a third QB.

Coach Bel is just humoring Kraft. Brady is laughing his rear off. "bring me my water, boy"

June 18, 2013  09:43 AM ET

Kraft says "Tebows the real deal".......well bench Brady and insert Tebow and tell me how that real deal works for you.
