07:24 AM ET 06.18 | As the Stanley Cup rolls on, the coaching carousel is picking up some speed again. The Rangers and Vancouver Canucks could pull off a head coaching swap. John Tortorella, fired as Rangers coach on May 29, is going to Vancouver this week for a second interview with the Canucks, according to a CBC report. Alain Vigneault, who was fired a week before Tortorella after seven seasons behind Vancouver's bench, agreed late last week to succeed Tortorella in New York, as the Daily News first reported, and is expected to be introduced as the Rangers' 35th head coach on Thursday. Vigneault's contract with the Rangers is for five years, $10 million, according to reports Monday by TVA Sports in Montreal and SportsNet.

It's like an underachiever swap meet

If Gillis does this he's dumber than I thought and I'm thinkin' bag of hammers dumb.

I don't know, I think he may be okay here for a couoke of seasons and then, although I did like him here, his style tends to wear out.
And it's a natural...3 fingers, 2 sisters

Torts still has a Stanley Cup....AV doesn't...(until after next season he says hopefully)

You sound like you wouldn't want it to happen then?

From my perspective it's the right thing to do.

Seems like he'll keep the Sedins happy? No?

While I couldn't care less about the Nux misfortunes being in their media market could be painful for years to come.

As Spiny pointed out, only three fingers and two sisters.......

somebody's going to be unhappy. :-)

Maybe they have another sister at home? Seriously, I have a feeling that Torts will have the folks in Vancouver screaming for his head by March..................IF he gets the job. Of course winning cures all. It will be interesting for an outsider to watch.

True but, who'd you rather coach? Rick Nash? Or Roberta Flopongo? Brad Richards? Or, the sisters? And, who'd you rather watch behind the bench? Three Fingers having conniptions? Or, Alain Vigneault laughing his head off?

I think he'll have to add a finger to keep both of them equally happy.

or use the 3rd on someone else that needs to get it in gear?

Then he'll need the fingers of both hands and a few toes as most every one on that team needs to get it in gear.

It will be wonderful. I love a Tortorella interview.

No matter who coaches next in Vancouver Gillis has not set him up with a winning hand. If it's Torts I sure hope he knows how to bluff.

Torts bringing that winning sarcasm it ought to be different in Van. this year in the interview room.

QUOTE(#18):

Torts needs a two or three year time out from the game. Just sit back, review your life, realize being a dick to everyone and about everything isn't the best way to go through life, learn a few things about the game, then come back. He might actually be a good coach after that.

He needs to go on a long European vacation with Iron Mike Keenan, who once was ... and is not. Learn what went wrong. It might extend his coaching career some.

It will be a little more lively around the Van. locker room I'm sure. Alain won't last the NY media I'm thinking.
