Biggest PR gaffe in Garrett???s career

06:54 AM ET 06.20 | Viewed through the optic of time, perhaps the Cowboys' play-calling drama could have been avoided. If perception doesn't matter to him, why didn't [Jason Garrett] just share the NFL's worst-kept secret much earlier in the offseason? It took Jerry Jones spilling enough beans for reporters to feed to Bill Callahan -- and then a week of Garrett looking desperately defiant by refusing to address the issue in a head-on manner -- before the man with the title of Dallas Cowboys head coach admitted that he'd no longer be calling the offensive plays. It was probably the biggest PR gaffe in Garrett's career, although refusing to own up to the Arizona clock-management crisis is pretty tough to beat.

Other than replacing the apostrophe with 3 question marks, what makes this stupid story and different than it was a few weeks back?

I guess, over time, we are supposed to care more. Not happening here. Get back to me in a few weeks, I'm sure I'll feel the same.

What the duck even makes it a "PR" gaffe?

Garrett can still be the play caller come game 1, believe you me. If he wants it enough, it can still be his job.

He hadn't completely gotten comfortable with it yet, and didn't feel he needed to talk to the press about something he wasn't set on.

That Callahan talked about it shows the division in the locker room.

How do these writers get their jobs?

If that's the biggest PR Gaffe this writer takes making a moutain out of a molehill to another level.

June 20, 2013  08:39 AM ET

I think just about everyone cares about his gaffes on the field more than how he handles PR.

They need gaffes because giraffes would hit their heads on the JerryTron.

Only the byline of espen attached to it today instead of the Dallas Morning News a couple of weeks ago.

winning cures many things..... dallas puts up 10 or more wins this year and gets into the playoffs, nobody will care. another .500 year and garrett will have a lot more to worry about than PR gaffes..... he will be out of dallas - which is likely what's going to happen in this zoo JJ has created.

I am getting old. When I was a kid PR meant Puerto Rican. Ya had to be there.

I had my first crush on a girl that moved to PR in the 6th Grade.

Don't know what was more devastating at that point of my life - her leaving or my dog getting run over.

When I was a kid Dallas meant Tom Landry.

Jones, and his personnel selections, and draft policies, are the root of most of their problems. Please give him a big raise so he will stay there forever.
