07:22 AM ET 06.20 | It's not as if Philadelphia, in its own quest for the Cup, would consider pocketing any savings gained from buying out Danny Briere. Will [Briere's] spot in the Flyers' lineup be taken by Brad Richards? The Flyers plan to buy out Briere, who has a $6.5 million salary-cap hit and two years remaining on his deal. A club source said the Flyers would "absolutely" be interested in Richards if the New York Rangers use a buyout to get his annual $6.67 million cap hit off the books. Richards' contract runs through 2019-20. But he would become an unrestricted free agent, able to sign a new deal, if the Rangers buy him out. Briere, one of the NHL's greatest playoff performers, has been slowed by injuries the last two seasons.

The Brass in TOR looks pretty darned competent right now. At least in comparison to their Eastern opponents.

Yikes - how many ridiculous contracts can you put on the books. The Isles learned their lesson, clearly Philly has not.

Is this written by Eklund?

Pelle Eklund? The Swedish bowling ball?

Flyers "absolutely" lost their mind.

Pocketing the savings? The Flyers are $8M over the cap. Subtract Briere's $6.5M leaves them $1.5 over. I kinda doubt Richards is going to pay the Flyers $1.5M to play for them.

Homer has no plan whatsoever. He just keeps throwing things against the wall and hopes one will stick

He apparently thinks he can save money by spending it. His next job will be in Washington.

Theres a good story about this on TMZ website. The title about Kate Upton riding a horse is misleading. You can thank me later.

I think Richards stays for the season. If AV is the coach I hope he is, Richards rediscovers his game

Yeah, Richards didn't just turn into a bad player. Tortarella would have f$%ked up Bobby Orr for cripe sakes.

That's the kind of thing that can't be viewed at work.
