03:23 PM ET 06.20 | The case between Ed O'Bannon and the NCAA and its licensing partners will reach an important point later this week, when a federal judge will rule on whether the case can certify as a class action suit. If the case reaches class action status, it would allow thousands of current and former college athletes to join in as plaintiffs, which could potentially expose the NCAA to massive liability if they lose the case.

No class, settlement likely, Class for just prior athletes, settlement likely, Inclusion of current athletes, in the courts for years...

Really hope O'Bannon wins

Have you guys seen the "players with likenesses"? They don't look a damn thing like the player, except a black guy is black most times and a white guy is white most times.....

Why? Because he couldn't make it in the NBA, so he goes back to the place that gave him a shot in the first place to try and get something he feels he lost out on?

Maybe, just maybe, he did get screwed by the NCAA and didn't just "feel", like he did. In other words, maybe he got screwed big time by the NCAA!!!

Why are you even mentioning the NBA???? This case has absolutely nothing to do with the NBA!!!

He got an education, didn't he?How about this... do away with scholarships then. Let them each have their little slice of the pie. Split it equally amongst ALL ATHLETES. You really think they'd be better off?

What does an education have to do with Ed O'Bannon, against the NCAA in an antitrust lawsuit???

That's a good thought and it just might work!!!!

WHY? You think maybe because he lost out on millions that he's not feeling a little bit slighted?

You do too much thinking and assuming!!! You think all ex college players that don't make the Pros, think like you!!! :-)

No. I think that too many people feel entitled to more than they deserve.

Now that, I can agree with you.

Because he feels like he didn't get enough. So he goes back to the one place he feels entitled to more... And aside from that, you don't think he hasn't made some car sales simply because of who he is and where he went to school? What if UCLA came back after him for each story he told of his days in college while riding along on a test drive?

This antitrust lawsuit is what happened when Ed O'Bannon was at UCLA, not when he owned a car dealership. It's about the NCAA making money off of him while he was playing at UCLA. I must admit, I don't know all the facts in the case, so I'm not going to pre judge anything!!!

Actually I am wrong, "What started four years ago as a simple, if big-dreaming, lawsuit ??? former UCLA basketball great Ed O'Bannon suing over the NCAA's continued use of his likeness, long after his 1996 graduation, in a video game ??? has snowballed into a legal challenge of college sports' entire economic model. O'Bannon is saying that the NCAA has used his name and he didn't get paid from the profits"!!!

QUOTE(#18):

Let me ask you this. Do you think or believe that if he'd had a successful pro-career, that the thought of suing the NCAA over this would have even entered his mind?

I can't honestly answer that for O'Bannon, but if it were me, I would sue the NCAA, regardless of how successful I was in the NBA!!!
