Jazz bring back Sloan as advisor

04:24 PM ET 06.20 | Jerry Sloan will come back to the Utah Jazz in an advisory role, as the franchise looks to connect with its glory days while rebuilding under Tyrone Corbin.

Sloan retired suddenly during the 2010-2011 season, possibly sparked by disagreements with then-Jazz guard Deron Williams, and Corbin, his assistant, took over. But Utah fans still have oodles of respect for the man who coached their team for 23 seasons, only missing the playoffs thrice while going to the NBA Finals on two occasions.

The organization clearly matches that respect, as Sloan has already begun assisting the team in draft preparations. They've also brought back Karl Malone, the Jazz Hall-of-Famer who will work with the team's big men under Corbin.
