08:51 AM ET 06.22 | The Cardinals had no idea Ryan Swope's concussion woes would keep him out of offseason practices as he awaits doctor's clearance. "We were very, very, very surprised about it," coach Bruce Arians told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport on Friday. "I'm not sure what he can do, I'm not sure what the doctors are going to do at this point. I hope ... because the kid is a great talent, and it would be a shame. But having Austin Collie last year, go through this same thing, it's scary." Asked which rookies have been impressive, Arians said, "I like them all. ... Only guy I'm worried about is Swope with his head." The Cardinals can't count on Swope returning to the field for training camp if he's yet to gain medical clearance six months after his last game for Texas A&M.

The scouting department was heard to say, "Swopes".

ya think that was why he was still out there for six rounds in a WR starved draft?

As happy as Arians is, he is going to melt down in a presser when he is 1-8.

They are who we thought they were!

The Cards always seem to pick up players that can't make 2 games without falling out, either RB, Beanie comes to mind or QB, pick any after Warner, now the receivers?

Reality: Only 15% of fourth round draft picks ever become a starter in the NFL. This guy was a 6th rounder. It is not house money lost if he does not play.

Right, with the 49ers and 'hawks on the rise the best they can figure is 3rd anyway.

What they didn't know about his concussion problems or they are they just surprised that after all this time he won't be able to participate in full contact drills. What did doctors say pre draft. If you don't know these things about the players you draft then you are not doing a very good job scouting.

Will this mean that every time he has a concussion he'll be out for a couple of months ?

It is now just as risky or riskier to draft a player that has had concussion problems as it is to draft a player coming off of a knee or other kind of lower body injury.

I don't think it's every house money with the Cardinals. That is one tight organization.
