11:56 AM ET 06.22 | Rockets forward Chandler Parsons is dreaming big next season. While watching the NBA Finals between the Heat and Spurs, Parsons envisioned his Rockets playing for the title, and he sent Dwight Howard a text message requesting that he come to Houston to make that happen. It's not the first time Parsons has been in contact with Howard this offseason, as the Rockets forward says he has been talking with the big man on a daily basis. ???I talk to Dwight every day,??? Parsons said. ???I???ve created a relationship with him, where I feel like we???re very close. He hits me up about everything. I???ve covered pretty much every question he???s had. I basically tell him, ???We have a chance to be really good without you next year. We???re going to have a good season. Why not come and join us, join our core guys who are for sure to be here and make us great, make us contend for a championship?'" The Rockets still have some work to do before they can have a legitimate chance of adding Howard, but they plan on clearing enough cap space to offer a max contract. Houston can't offer Howard as much as the Lakers can, but they're hoping that the draw of playing with a young star in James Harden will be enough to sway the center's mind.

BFFs?

Parsons maybe out to clear cap because he will vie for a Max or close to one if he has a season like he did last season

Parsons is a shooter. He doesn't defend, pass or rebound a whole lot. At best, he's a 7-8 million per year player. Nowhere close to a max player. A solid #3 option.

I wonder if he can get in trouble for this?

I think the league should fine the Rockets $1M and deny them the opportunity to sign Howard.

But that's just me.

These tampering rules always seem to be so arbitrary. I see teams get fined at times for doing the same thing other teams do. I'm never sure what the boundaries really are on this one.

Maybe the new commissioner should set some boundaries.

He won't. Players can talk to each other especially friends...

But can they openly recruit each other? I thought the Big 3 got blamed by some people for colluding. This guy is admitting openly that he is trying to recruit Howard.

Remember CP3 promising to join Melo in NY? That's the same thing. But this one w/ Parsons is strange because it's right out there in the article. We'll see if he'll get fined...

This maybe consider monkey business Bro!

it is obvious you have not watched parsons play

On paper this would be a scary team. Being a Lakers fan, I felt that coming into this season we also had a very talented roster. Having the best roster on paper ends up amounting to nothing unless they can play well together. Watching Dwight Howard's mental lapses throughout this past season allowed his true colors to be shown. Without a killer instinct his talent and athleticism will only take him so far. Even if he stays with the Lakers (which I would like), I do not see any rings in the future for him.

I guess players don't ask for too much and sometimes get overpaid rather than underpaid...He has gotten better every year teams want shooters more so than scorers depending on teams makeup.

He does things that may not tally up on the scorecard but he works in the system he will definitely get more than 7--8 mil

CP3 will join D12 with Phil Jackson to LA Lakers to challenge the Miami Heat! It is the best team who can challenge the heat. They dont care about paying luxury tax but rather they are more concren about building a good team with more talent outside shooting that can beat the heat!!!

I would like him to stay but unless we can get another star somehow after Kobe leaves, there is no way that we can compete with the young and more athletic teams in the West as is. Despite how good Howard is im almost not sure whether I would rather him stay or just take the cap space seeing as the Griffin and Bledsoe deal is more of a dream than a reality.

Parsons is I think technically a free agent with a team option right now.
