01:02 PM ET 06.23 | In brutal conditions at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, Englishman Garrick Porteous overcame Finland's Toni Hakula 6&5 in the 36-hole final of the 2013 British Amateur Championship to earn himself a spot in the 2013 British Open field next month in Muirfield. Both Porteous and Hakula were met with 45km/h winds and rain on Saturday morning as Porteous built a three-up lead at lunch following the opening 18 holes with both players failing to break 80. Hakula looked to fight back early in the second round of 18 holes, winning the second hole but Porteous soon rocketed to a 5-up lead with wins on the third, fifth and ninth before sealing the deal with wins on 12 & 13. The victory also means that Porteous is eligible to play in the 2014 U.S. Masters and U.S. Open.
