07:16 AM ET 06.24 | Notre Dame's 2013 season remains more than 60 days out on the horizon, but the program has already picked up a recruit for the 2015 recruiting class in Jerry Tillery. The 6-foot-7, 312-pound offensive lineman from Shreveport, La., started his visit with dinner in Notre Dame Stadium's press box with Irish players and coaches. Over the next two days, Tillery was able to experience the program he's been cheering for since childhood. Before visiting, Tillery explained his affinity for Notre Dame. "Notre Dame tends to attract pretty adept people to their campus," Tillery said. " Notre Dame's probably not for everyone. Not just anyone can succeed at Notre Dame, so they have to have pretty special people to come there."

"Cheering since childhoold"? Then he was rooting for a team that wasn't very good during his childhood.

Been playing at a Catholic HS?

"Notre Dame tends to attract pretty adept people to their campus," Tillery said.

Quite true, but only of their academic student body, the football team? Not so much over the last two decades, pretty much just guys with imaginary girlfriends.

That IS pretty disappointing, I totally agree Colonel. Maybe you can, uh, "fill the void", as they say...?

That kid "with an imaginary girlfriend" was a Academic All American and the most decorated single season college football player in history. He went on to be a high draft pick and will go on to anchor and lead the Chargers defense for many years to come. Imagine that...!!! (yes Mr. Utley I took the bait...!).

You can say that again. Louisiana kind of sucks in general and Shreveport has its own special form of uber-sucking.
