08:37 AM ET 06.24 | With the 2013 NBA Draft just days away, trade rumors are really beginning to heat up. One of the most documented rumors comes from the great state of Texas, where it is believed that the Dallas Mavericks are aggressively shopping the No. 13 overall pick. The belief is that the Mavericks are clearing as much space as possible, so they can make a serious run at Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard. According to the latest report, a deal is reportedly already in place, and it could be with the Cavaliers. Cleveland is looking to target a player that can stretch the floor and that could come in the shape of 19 year old Russian Sergey Karasev.

clear space- then have a bad roster around him?dirk + howard + no guards?

We'll find out in 2 months when preseason starts...

Karasev doesn't look like he's known for his defense...

My guess is they'll target Ellis.

If no CP3 is in Dallas I don't think Howard will go there. They have a chance to get B level guards, Monta and whatever PG's is available throw in Josh Smith or Millsap and they will be playoff bound.

Trade away your best shot at a fresh start for your club then watch Howard either reup with the Lakers or end up down the road in Houston. Then Dirk can do it all...

Smith or Millsap will not be part of the equation. They both play Dirk's position.

Jefferson is the backup option to Howard. And not a bad one at that.

You are partially right but they both play SF and PF and can play with Dirk.

I agree he will be the backup option for Dallas

agree-these guys want to go where they can have an in his prime running mate to play with and hang with for the next 4-5 years.

Yeah what people don't see is Howard and CP3 are really in their prime. Howard and CP3 are both 27 they don't want to spending their prime years(late-20's early-30's) on teams not in position to win a title.

Going All In, Bros?

Good. This draft sucks.

June 24, 2013  10:33 AM ET

They did this 2 years ago and came up empty and could not even make the playoffs this year. I guess you have to respect that they are 'going all in' but they never should of 'blown up' their chamionship team in the first place.

really?you go from a game changing center to a guy that hasn't done squat in his career ? including a collapes late last season that cost his team a spot in the playoffs ?AND you're going to have to pay him max $ ?I'd say that is a significantly bad back-up option

I agree but for different reasons jefferson is more offensive than defensive so i dont think it would work
