Louisville lands 4-star RB/FB

02:06 PM ET 06.24 | Fullbacks don't normally get people's ears to perk up, but Louisville's latest land on the recruiting trail is the best in the country -- or at the very least, a very good running back -- four-star Daniel Gresham.

A Louisville who moved to Texas when he was 12, Gresham had previously committed to Texas and had offers from Alabama and Ohio State, amongst others, with Miami and Ole Miss widely considered to be the leaders. But Charlie Strong told Gresham that he'll be a feature back and not just a lead blocker who sometimes touches the ball, causing him to give his pledge to Louisville. He's the only four-star commit in Strong's 2014 class thus far.

"Send the beef" power plays soon to be a part of UL's repertoire.

the offers from UTx, Bama and OSU had him as FB or Hback

Hope he doesn't regret the promise of a featured RB if its something less

I'm seeing him as a power back in UL's scheme. Strong will still recruit and play a cutting speed back, especially between the 30s. But, if he's got the meat and the execution on the line, Charlie will give Gresham the brick often enough to be considered a "featured back," though be it one of two.

Charlie may work out some packages besides the "3rd and Inches Featured Back" package. At 5-11 and 229, if he has decent hands and wheels, he could do some damage in the short passing game, but thats not exactly Feature Back work either. Good luck to the young man, in any case.

Yep. It takes a very disciplined defense to remember the FB out of the backfield.

That may be a stretch with their schedule so weak.

I was talking about the regular season, not about the NCG!!! IMO, Bama had a pretty easy schedule to allow them to get to the NCG and Louisville's schedule this year, shouldn't hold them back from the NCG, if there were to win out!!!

Texas is a program that seems to be lost lately, and 'Bama is freakin' LOADED at the RB position.

Credit Charlie Strong for putting in WORK at L-ville. I don't see him as HC for L-ville for much longer. The big boys will be courting him HARD.

While I am not at all unhappy with Mus, I sure wish da Gatahs had given Charlie a shot. Would've dumped alot of heat on Darth Foley to put a never-been-HC guy in the corner office at UF, but he's got what it takes IMO.
