03:21 PM ET 06.24 | July 2 could be decision day in the Phoenix Coyotes' ongoing ownership drama and potential relocation. Renaissance Sports and Entertainment, the group that agreed to buy the Coyotes pending an arena deal with the city of Glendale, met with the Glendale City Council on Friday and the hope is that the meeting, along with further negotiations next week, will allow for a public vote on the proposed contract on July 2. If enough progress has not been made for a July 2 vote, or if the city council votes it down, that will likely end the Coyotes' stay in the desert and result in the team being moved to Seattle.

I have the feeling that July 2 will bring a new deadline. a new proposal with the old results. Nada, zilch. More threads to come.

I'm in the new group ready to bid. I'm putting in $14.67 of my own money ($4.67 cash with a $10.00 bond), but I want a long term lease. Seriously, I don't want Shiprock to lose a local team, but how long can this fiasco go on? I'm beginning to believe that the new definition of eternity is "finding a new ownership group for the 'Yotes and signing a lease with Glendale".

Just put that money in your will, Slappy, and the timing will be about right.

There are coyotes in Seattle, they live mostly in the woodsy suburbs and feast on pets, so the team's name won't have to change if they move there.

Why not steal the former baseball clubs name and call them the Seattle Pilots.

Perhaps I'm still bitter about the baseball team in Colorado being called the Rockies...
