Wizards won't trade No. 3 pick for Deng

05:06 PM ET 06.24 | Rumors swirled Monday morning following a report that the Wizards and Bulls were in "exploratory talks," but Washington has no interest in the suggested deal that would send Emeka Okafor and the No. 3 pick in the 2013 draft to Chicago for Luol Deng. This likely comes as good news to fans from the nation's capital who hope the team lands a top young player like Otto Porter, Nerlens Noel or Anthony Bennett. Because both Deng and Okafor are free agents after next season, trading the third pick would've essentially given the team a one-year upgrade, so it's possible Washington planned to push for more in the deal had talks progressed further. While some may believe such a lopsided exchange is hard to imagine, don't forget when Wizards GM Ernie Grunwald traded the No. 5 pick for Mike Miller and Randy Foye four years ago.

Why would the Bulls trade Deng? With their ACT-acing point guard returning, they could be a legit threat.
