Thunder trying to land No. 1 overall pick

03:02 PM ET 06.25 | The Cleveland Cavaliers jumped around and hooted and hollered when they won the NBA Draft Lottery but it appears that was all a smoke screen. We now know the Cavs have no intention of keeping the No. 1 pick unless they fail to secure a trade they deem fit to move the pick to another team. The Cavaliers have reached out to other teams about a possible trade but they've also fielded calls from some high-profile teams that have reportedly been "proactive" in trying to land the top pick. According to ESPN's Chad Ford, the Oklahoma City Thunder are one of those teams proactively trying to trade for the top overall pick. Cleveland floated two first-round picks to the Blazers for LaMarcus Aldridge but Portland didn't want any of that. It's unknown if the Thunder have actually made any offers but they appear to have some pieces that might pry the first overall pick from the Cavs. But Cleveland has established that they want more value in return than some teams think the pick is worth, so by default the Thunder might be out already.

Not sure what the Thunder's GM, Sam Presti, has in mind, but I wouldn't bet against him in whatever it is.

Flaney!!!!Bet it's McElmore. He may be out of shape right now. But, the kid can shoot. They can get a decent Center at 12. So, I doubt it's Len or Noel.

Mecca! Howdy there lady! Long time, no see. I hope you and the family are doing well. I think they will try to get a big...and they really like Kelly Olynyk from Gonzaga with the #12 pick. They also have the 29th and 32nd picks...I can see them getting another big at the #29 spot and then an experienced sharp shooter like Sergey Karasev from Russia with the 32nd pick. We shall see how this all pans's going to be interesting.

Ha!I love Olynyk. But, he will be on the board at 12.Karasev is getting major hype right now. Could be smokescreens like Russ suggested. But, I don't see him dropping passed 16.

Not sure if it is smoke screening or not...Karasev has been playing over in the Russian league for a few years now...and is an accomplished outside shooter...we shall see.

I still think a Cav's/Thunder trade of the #1 overall pic, along with a vet the CAv's want to unload for Jones, Lamb, and OKC's 2 first round Picks, would be fair, and a win win. OKC gets the top pic, a young star big man they need, Cleveland gets 4 first round picks this year and 2 young pieces to help the rebuild.

The NBA draft is turning into the baseball draft. Tons of projects and mostly unknown dudes who may be serviceable pros.
