Spencer's days numbered in Dallas?

07:09 AM ET 06.26 | The franchise tag has a way of stalling talks on long-term deals -- and such was the case with Dallas defensive end Anthony Spencer. The depressed free-agent market has driven down prices and Spencer, who said he wants to stay in Dallas, had no intention of taking a below-market deal when he was already guaranteed $10.6 million this year with the franchise tag. Not surprisingly, the two sides decided to end the impasse and just concentrate on the 2013 season with no further talks. "Both sides are happy with the one-year deal," Spencer's agent, Jordan Woy, said Tuesday. "We tried hard, but could not work out a deal." ... Spencer will most certainly get a long-term deal next spring, in Dallas or elsewhere.

With the DE market depleting, seems like Jerry tagged him a little too fast...

I'm sure the sticking point was about the difference in what a DE makes and what a OLB makes...

Nonetheless - he's been a good soldier. He's gonna get his money next season.

This is perfect. Now we know he has to work his butt off this year.

....and hopefully on the other side of the ball, Doug Free will do the same.

Too bad his production on the field has not been good, but maybe with the new defense he will have some success.

I think we should really look into signing T.O for 1 maybe 2 year deal. I feel we can get some very productive time from Terrell Owens. But if we are content with subpar performance then you Dallas are right not to sign him. Steven A Smith said it best, a player with Terrell Owens talent should be given the opportunity to go out of football on the field. I will say, who ever signs T.O. will defenitely get their money's worth, and would not have about off the field rantics. I have seen a lot of run in with the law from players, and they are given tons of opportunities. Granted, I do believe that some incidents maybe harrassment on the police part but, so many incidents? It makes you wonder. Come on Dallas, lets sign T.O. and make a run at this superbowl.
