05:24 PM ET 06.26 | Doc Rivers wanted the Los Angeles Clippers job, but after failed negotiation after failed negotiation, he was resigned to returning to the Boston Celtics. First, the Clippers reportedly didn't want to part with young guard Eric Bledsoe in a deal that also included Boston's Kevin Garnett. Then, it was the NBA calling a reported double-deal illegal. Then, it was a matter of Boston again pulling the teeth of Los Angeles, finally getting them to relinquish a 2015 first-round pick as compensation. Rivers said at his introductory press conference that he had pulled himself out of the possibility of joining forces with Chris Paul in Los Angeles. "I kind of pulled out myself, not from being mad or anything, I just had enough of it..." Rivers said of the drawn-out negotiations. "I called Danny (Ainge) and said, 'I'm staying, I'm coaching that???s what I am, let's move forward.' Then two hours later he told me 'no, you're not staying, you're going.'"
