07:19 AM ET 06.27 | Rick DiPietro's injury-plagued career on Long Island may soon have its official end. The window for NHL contract buyouts opened late last night but the Islanders had yet to make a move on [DiPietro], whose eight remaining seasons and $36 million make him a prime candidate to be bought out during this stretch through next Thursday, just before the start of free agency. Isles general manager Garth Snow declined comment and DiPietro, who hasn't been with the team since he was waived on Feb. 22, did not return a phone message. ... As the draft approaches on Sunday and free agency on July 5, the Isles goaltending situation is unsettled. Evgeni Nabokov, who started 41 of 48 games last season and all six playoff games, appears headed to the open market.

There's a snarky Russian on the market I hear...

I bet Bryz could choose any team...as long as he takes a dollar. Come on, you'll already be making an NHL salary.

Yes. Not very well, though.

and if that's what he did in Bridgeport...

This dude has cost the Isles since they called his name out on draft day.

One of many reasons Mike Milbury is considered a cuss word on the Island.

You got something against idiots? :-)

The downside is that it'll cost alot of money. The upside is that it'll rid you of DiPietro.

Clear win by dumping him.

As per Bryz and Briere buyout, we had a good laugh in the dressing room last night while thinking of the possibility of Luongoal in burnt orange.

Ricky should insist on direct deposit on those buyout payments. Otherwise the next time he shows up in a T&R thread it will be "DiPietro injures himself endorsing check"

And he probably injured himself while putting that hat on...
