06:37 PM ET 06.27 | One of the best netminders in all of hockey is set to become a free agent this summer and the New York Rangers are going to try their hardest to make sure that doesn't happen. According to ESPN New York, the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist are set to begin contract negotiations that will keep him in New York and off the open market this summer. One of the reasons Lundqvist was reluctant to re-sign with the Rangers at first had to do with head coach John Tortorella. Many believe that the firing of Torts had a lot to do with Lundqvist's disapproval of him and New York ultimately valued Lundqvist over their now former head coach. New York brought in former Vancouver Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault to replace Torts and they're hoping he's the choice that will help keep Lunqvist where is is right now.

Be funny to see Torts take off an Alain Vigneault mask and tell Lundquist to toughen up a little.

He's really upset that the Leafs went with Bernier instead of him.

LOL - You're killin' me kid. Maybe he's holding out for Justin Pogge money.

I think Alain moved up in the goaltender department, now to keep him.

One of the best? Name me the better ones please.

Still got the best glove and plays the best positionally. I'm guessing that is the best. Reimer, Anderson, Quick and Rask are all actually pushing him now though. Lately, being the best seems to mean you always have to put up with a substandard and overpaid defence corps.

Not enough room here for that. But .... I'll start the list with .... Jonas Gustavsson! ;-)

i hope they get it done soon. I would hate for this to turn into one of those..."no talking once the season starts"deals....

Curious to see what Henrik gets; could be a sign of what Rask will get!
