07:12 AM ET 06.28 | Nerlens Noel certainly didn't expect to be on the board so long. After five picks in Thursday nights' NBA draft, the 6-11 big man from Kentucky finally heard his name when the New Orleans Pelicans selected him with the sixth pick. Then Noel realized he'd be teaming up with last year's No. 1 pick, Anthony Davis. "I'm just happy to be with the Pelicans," said Noel, a favorite to be the top overall draft pick. That lasted barely 30 minutes. The Pelicans dealt Noel and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers. ... With a perplexed look on his face, Noel tried to force out a smile. When asked about the five teams who passed him, Noel tried to stay positive, but admitted he felt overlooked. "Oh yeah, I'm going to make them pay," Noel confided.

Don't worry, you are gonna get paid, even scrubs get paid in the NBA

Anyway, not sure why the Pelicans drafted him.... they have Anthony Davis already with the same skill set.

Come on man.....You're broken and have a limited offensive gameIt would've been INSANE to take you #1Now that being said.....without the pressure of being #1.....Now you have a legit chance to take your time, improve and maybe have a nice careerI personally think he's going to be a journeyman

Nerlens Kite.

Sixers drafted horribly and decided to give up Jrue. We may be the 3rd worse team in the NBA behind. Bobcats, and Phoenix. If we don't get Wiggins or two top 4 picks this is a fail. So I rooting for the Pelicans to suck just enough to be the 4th best team to give us a shot at number 4 pick next year and the Sixers will be horrible enough to be 3rd worse team. Here's to tanking!

Like I said I think Noel's ceiling is Tyson Chandler in about 2 years and about 20lbs, pending no more injuries. I don't there will ever be a time where you would run the offense through him but he will protect the paint which the Sixers had problems with and score off pick and rolls and garbage points. He will never command a max salary so should be able to keep long term for the next 2014 star I hope we draft.

Sure, Noel. Sure.

At best, you're Marcus Camby. At worst, you're a skinny scrub.

Leaning towards the scrub...

Sorry Bro. Almost looked like a great trade until they mentioned that Jrue got traded for him. Carter Williams could work out but he is not as great a shooter as Jrue...

noel looked frustrated from the start.

Ya al have to remember. It took Tyson Chandler 7-8 years before he became who he is now. He was initially considered a bust.

Noels is way to skinny to be effective. Agreed, journeyman at best early on. Then maybe after learning how to play D, maybe poorman's Chandler.

Did I hear correctly? Phili trade for this guy?

Yup; Officially, the tank is in for Philly. They are playing for the 2014 draft. Along with Bobcats, Suns etc

The Sixers are idiots. What people fail to realize is the 1st rounder they got from the Pelicans in the Jrue trade is a protected 1st rounder. I can't believe they were that dumb to give away Jrue like that. Easily the dumbest move last night. And that PG they drafted will be lucky to be in the league in 4 years.

Don't sleep on Boston. They too made sure they are in play for a top 5 pick next draft
