Talks with Vezina-winning 'Bob' hit snag

07:25 AM ET 06.28 | With the clock ticking toward July, it's looking increasingly likely that Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky won't come to immediate terms with the Blue Jackets. For that matter, it could drag into free agency on July 5, too. Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen and Bobrovsky's agent, Paul Theofanous, met Wednesday in New York and had a phone conversation [Thursday] morning. All indications are that no progress is being made, that the process may have even headed backward this morning. There are no plans, as of now, to meet again. Things can change quickly, of course. One phone call can change everything, but all signs suggest that this negotiation is more than one phone call from being settled.

Part of me wants the Jackets to pay the man his money, but the other part wants to pay him what he's worth given the small body of work they've seen.

Its not surprising that this deal isn't done yet because its so complicated.

The problem is he can just up and scream "KHL!" and then Columbus is screwed.

Yeah but, Columbus can just up and scream "Flyers!" and Sergei is screwed.

Maybe Philly can resign him.....of course, it'll cost them more than the 1st time they had him...that VEZINA costs a lot to maintain...(weekend Philly tweak)

I agree with this. We've seen it in all sports where someone has a career year, even early in their career, gets big bucks which banishes them to mediocrity

I think Bob is the real deal, tho. Why else would Holmgren trade him?

Seriously, he played great for the Flyers and goes out and wins the Vezina for a team with a defense as mediocre as the Flyers. I wouldn't mind seeing Holmgren correct one of his mistakes and get Bob back. Wouldn't make Mason happy, tho.

Haven't you heard? Homer is wheelin' and dealin' to get a top flight d-man. All will be well. Just keep repeating that.

I always thought Bobky had real potential and I was glad to see them get rid of him in exchange for Bryz.
