08:31 AM ET 06.29 | Badgerblitz.com is reporting that Wisconsin senior starting defensive end David Gilbert is transferring to Miami. He reportedly graduated in May and thus would be eligible to play for the Hurricanes this season, if that is indeed the case. (Again, no confirmation from UM at the time of this posting at 1:40 a.m.) [UPDATE THIS MORNING: UM expects Gilbert to end up with the Canes, but it's not yet official.] This would be a huge get for Miami, which needs help on the defensive line, provided he can stay healthy after a history of foot problems.

.....looks like the kid found a really good paying job out of college in a tough economy....

I would really like to know more about this article. Why would a kid that is a senior and graduated this past May, transfer to another school?? Something is not right here. The kid must not be a very good player, to not be draft?

He's coming off of a broken foot injury. He graduated, but could have played one more season in Madison. He is originally from Florida, so that, coupled with Anderson switching to a 3-4 defense that would have moved him from DE to OLB is probably all there is to this story.

He's a pretty decent DE in a 4-3. Has good speed off the edge. As a Badger fan, we were really expecting him to have a big year, unfortunately it looks as if it will be with Miami. Good kid, so I wish him the best going forward.

Huh, guess Madison doesn't pay as well was Miami.
