09:09 AM ET 06.29 | J.R. Smith, with his Knicks status blowing in the wind, caused a commotion among fans yesterday when he tweeted, "It was fun while it lasted..." Did the sharpshooting free-agent guard preemptively announce his departure from the team less than 24 hours after the Knicks drafted Tim Hardaway Jr., a similar player? Only Smith knows for sure, though he tweeted again soon after denying that the initial comment had anything to do with basketball. "What y'all talking bout?" Smith wrote. "I'm talking bout the talk the cab driver an I just had!" Hmm. The Knicks, who have "early Bird rights" on Smith, only can offer him as much as $5.4 million per year. Teams under the cap -- such as the Bucks, a rumored landing spot -- can offer him more.

Nothing better than sitting in the back of a smelly cab cutting other drivers of.

TH Jr will take his spot. Bye bye JR!

Did anybody here about a rumored trade between NY and Boston? Rondo goes to the Knicks for Felton, Novak, and some picks...

Looks like Boston is helping everybody out...lol

what ??that does change things.....obviously at this stage- assuming his knee he healthy.rondo > shumpBUTthe issue is the system-in the iso system- i don't know if a 'true' pg works- as they don't have the ball. and since rondo can't shoot ? I don't know if he will just be out there taking up space.I think we need a pg that can shoot.(the other trade- giving up squat makes sense....but losing shump? we'd need to find a SG- the rook can't play big minutes)

Yup, Rondo has to make his shots in a Knicks system or a Lakers system and shooting 3 pointers is his major weakness. Defensively he is the best.
